Hey everyone,
We’re getting closer to the release of the next chapter of Redfir Hills, and we couldn’t be more excited to finally share what we’ve been working on. But before we get there, let’s talk about an important step that’s happening right now: the rollout of version 8.5.0 of the app.
This update is going live for Android today. As always, we’ll be gathering some initial feedback and making sure everything runs as intended before releasing it for iOS shortly after. And just so there’s no confusion—this update does not yet include the new chapter. That part is coming very soon, once we’ve made sure the updated version is stable and working well for everyone. Realistically, we’re looking at a release window of around 7 to 14 days for the next chapter.
So what’s actually new in 8.5.0?
There are a few changes that we hope will improve your experience significantly. We’ve made some subtle but important adjustments to the chat interface—animations for incoming and outgoing messages have been reworked, and the swiper used for choosing replies has been replaced with a new, more stable and readable solution. These changes might sound small, but they make a big difference in the overall flow of conversations.
We’ve also started rolling out something many of you have been asking for: achievements. You can now earn small rewards for your progress in the game, including tickets that can be used to unlock theme packs and other extras. It’s our way of adding a little bonus layer of fun while highlighting some of the cool things you might not have explored yet.
Speaking of theme packs—there are four brand-new ones already included in this update. We won’t spoil all of them here, but we’ll be showcasing them one by one over the coming weeks. Whether you’re into eerie woods, fall festivals, or digital distortion, we’ve got something in there for you.
Another small but exciting detail: we’ve launched two in-universe websites to add more depth to the world of Redfir Hills. You can now visit RFH Online and RFHR 94.4 as if they were real websites pulled straight from the story. If you haven’t checked them out yet, take a look:
We know it’s been a long time since the last chapter of the main storyline dropped. This break wasn’t easy for us either, but it was absolutely necessary to take a step back, improve the foundation, and make sure the story we’re telling can unfold the way it deserves to. Now we’re almost there—just a few more days until everything comes together.
Thanks for sticking with us through the process. We’re so close now, and we can’t wait for you to see what’s next.
